Cost comparison

The real cost of filling a role isn't the salary alone

Contractor day rates and labour hire markups are charged for as long as the person works for you, so they add up quietly. Hire Australia keeps it simple: one fixed fee of 15% of base salary (excluding super), plus GST, with a 2-month replacement guarantee.

Example: $80,000 base salary
Hire Australia fee (15%), once$12,000
Labour hire markup (75%), every year$60,000
Contractor at $750 a day, every year$85,000
Extra cost on top of the $80,000 salary. Excludes GST. Contractor figure: $750 × 220 working days, less the salary.
What adds up

The costs most hiring budgets miss

Agency fees

Recruitment agencies set their own fee, usually a percentage of salary. Check the percentage, what it is charged on and when you have to pay it.

Contractor rates

A day rate looks simple, but over a full year it often costs far more than a permanent salary for the same work.

Labour hire markups

Labour hire adds a markup to every hour worked, for as long as the worker stays, instead of a one-off fee.

One fixed fee instead

With Hire Australia you pay 15% of base salary once, plus GST, and only two months after the person starts. If they leave within those two months, you won't be invoiced for them and we'll find a replacement.

Your figures, compared side by side

Enter the salary, another agency's fee, a contractor day rate and a labour hire markup. The calculator shows the one-off fee, the yearly cost and the three-year total of each option.

Hiring someone who needs a visa?

Add the visa and government costs from your Australian Immigration Agency (AIA) quote, and the calculator includes them. Migration fees are quoted case by case, because they depend on the visa and the candidate's circumstances.
