Eligibility and Requirements
6. Do I need a visa before applying for jobs on GRIAworks?
No, you do not need a visa to apply.
If you are accepted for a job by an Australian employer, they will sponsor you.
Before any job is advertised, GRIAworks will have already worked with the employer to ensure they have the approvals and capability to bring you across.
7. What qualifications, documents, or certifications do I need to apply?
Typically, you’ll need:
- A valid passport
- Relevant qualifications or trade certifications
- Proof of work experience (such as references or employment letters)
Some roles may also require additional checks such as medical exams, police clearances, or skills assessments, depending on the visa type.
8. How do I know if I am eligible to work in Australia?
The recruiter managing your application will ensure that you meet the requirements related to the specific job.
At the same time, GRIA — through our Australian Immigration Agency (AIA) division — will confirm your visa eligibility, so you can move forward with confidence.
9. Will my qualifications and experience be recognised in Australia?
For many roles, Australian employers recognise international qualifications and work experience.
Some regulated professions (like nursing or engineering) may require skills assessments, licensing, or registration.
We will guide you through any additional steps needed to be job- and visa-ready.
10. Do I need to pass an English test to qualify for a job?
Most Australian visas require you to meet a minimum English standard, usually proven through a test like IELTS or equivalent.
The exact requirement depends on your profession and visa type, and we’ll clearly explain what’s needed for your application.
Application Process
11. How does the application process work on GRIAworks?
Simple and streamlined:
- Register and complete your GRIAworks profile
- Apply for jobs that match your skills
- Complete the vetting process (document checks, interviews, eligibility review)
- Receive a job offer and move into the visa process
You could be living and working in Australia within just a couple of months, depending on the specific job, visa, and employer timeline.
12. What happens after I submit my application?
Once you apply, your recruiter will review your application to assess fit.
If you meet the employer’s needs, you’ll be shortlisted for interviews and documentation checks.
If successful, an offer will be issued, and the visa and relocation process will begin immediately.
13. How does candidate vetting work and what should I prepare for?
Candidate vetting ensures you’re fully qualified and ready to succeed.
Vetting includes:
- Verification of your identity
- Validation of your work history and references
- Review of your qualifications and certifications
- English language proficiency confirmation (if required)
- Health and police background checks (depending on visa)
Recruiters also assess your skills against Australian industry standards, your commitment to relocating, and your ability to meet visa conditions.
This thorough process gives employers confidence — and increases your chances of a smooth transition.
14. Can I apply for more than one job at a time?
Absolutely.
Applying for multiple relevant roles maximises your chances of success.
Our recruiters will help match you to the best opportunities based on your skills and eligibility.
15. What happens if I am not selected for a job?
If you are not selected, your journey doesn’t end.
Your profile remains active on GRIAworks, and you can apply for other suitable roles.
We continue to introduce you to employers actively seeking your skills.
Visa, Costs, and Relocation
16. Can GRIAworks help me with my visa and migration process?
Yes — we have in-house migration experts through our Australian Immigration Agency (AIA) division, with over 15 years of experience.
We have a historic 99% success rate when we advocate for candidates we believe are eligible.
Our registered migration agents will guide you through every visa step, ensuring a professional, compliant, and supportive experience.
17. Are there any fees or costs I need to pay as a candidate?
Applying through GRIA is free.
Most of the core costs — including nomination and government visa fees and professional services — are covered by the employer. Please note that some employers may seek to recover visa costs as part of their contract with you, however this is part of your employment negotiation.
Third-party costs (such as medical exams, health checks, police clearances, or relocation costs) may be your responsibility.
We are always transparent about these from the start.
18. Can my family come with me if I get a job in Australia?
Yes, in many cases.
Most employer-sponsored visa programs allow you to include your spouse and dependent children.
Our migration experts will explain the process clearly and help you plan the best path for your family.
19. How long does it take from applying to arriving in Australia?
Typically, the full journey from job offer to arriving in Australia takes one to four months, depending on your role, employer, and visa type.
Our team and migration experts work hard to make your transition as fast and seamless as possible.
Support and Safety
20. Is it safe to migrate and work through GRIAworks, and can I speak to someone if I have questions?
Absolutely.
We only work with vetted employers and trusted recruitment partners.
We also have an in-house immigration team, the Australian Immigration Agency, which has operated for over 15 years and is staffed by registered migration agents.
Your safety, rights, and success are our highest priorities, and our support team is always ready to answer your questions along the way.
